Mozart’s 263rd Birthday Concert and Reception

Join us for a celebration of Mozart’s 263rd birthday!
A variety of orchestral, concerto, and chamber works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions district winner Christine Lyons performs “Exsultate, jubilate,” and timpanist Charles Kiger performs in the “Serenade notturna” K.239 for strings and timpani. Members of the Spectrum Symphony and award-winning pianist Hsin-I Huang perform the piano-woodwind quintet K.452, and trios from the Mozart-Bach Preludes and Fugues, K.404a. The program concludes with Mozart’s “Linz” Symphony no. 36, David A Grunberg conducting. A reception follows. Please join us!

Young Artist Concerto and a new work

Saint Peter’s Church, 619 Lexington Avenue

We are proud to present the winner of our Young Artist Concerto competition, and more, in the beautiful space of Saint Peter’s in midtown NYC. Four high-level young soloists competed strongly in the finals, and the winner this year is Ms. Jiaxun Caroline Yao, 16, cellist. Ms. Yao studies at the Juilliard School Pre-College with Richard Aaron & Sieun Lin. She will perform the cello concerto by Edward Elgar, Op. 85.

Also on the program will be an exciting new work by composer Balint Karosi (2018) featuring Hungarian clarinet soloist Gábor Varga, and the youthful Serenade for orchestra by Leó Weiner, Op. 3 (1906).
